I feel like lately I’ve been all about the little things in life. This time of year time seems to slip away so quickly, I find I am forcing myself to slow down some to enjoy all of the little things and celebrate them. Little things like finding the most comfortable leggings perfect for all the holiday travels (more on that here), or enjoying time with friends, and family over simple picnics.
Another trend I’m noticing around here lately, is finding joy in switching it up a bit from the regular routine or same old same old. Like trying a bed and breakfast versus the usual hotel, like the Four Chimney’s inn in Bennington Vermont, or changing up my Christmas Tree colors this year. It’s fun to try new things. And I’ve done just that again when I put together this pretty picnic for Mark and I while staying at the romantic Four Chimney’s Inn bed & breakfast.
Here’s my advice if you want to do something similar with your sweetheart while traveling. Have a vintage style with modern amenities, picnic basket like this Picnic time one shipped directly to where you are staying. Layer a pretty tablecloth with a blanket for your base. PS- If you fly southwest you can check two bags for free, so just package things up with the blanket inside for padding and check the basket on the way home.
Ahead of time, ask the owner of where you’re staying or a local, where a good local market or grocery store is located to stop by on your way in to pick up some fresh flowers and the treats you plan to nibble on at your picnic. We enjoyed this picnic mid-morning, so we did green tea, blueberry muffins and fresh fruit.
Pick a pretty maxi dress that you can wear with ballet flats like these dusty pink ones, or ankle boots since the temp is cooler. I love how feminine and timeless this Gal Meets Glam dress is.
