A Summer Dress and Dog Friendly Places in Charleston

charleston dress and pet friendly places.jpeg

Gone are the days of leaving Fido at home. In fact I’ve actually used a company called Bring Fido to find and reserve pet friendly hotels easily! Traveling with your pet seems to be the new cultural norm and I’m not going to lie, being a fur mama myself, I’m totally ok with it! Mark and I love visiting Charleston, and now Archie loves it too! Charleston is a great place to travel with your furry friend. In fact lots of the shops on King St. even place a water bowl out front for your beloved fur baby while shopping. This is one pet friendly city partly because there’s so much to see just by walking around the public parks, old cobblestone streets and neighborhoods. So if you’re planning a trip and want to bring the four legged member of your family, you’ll love today’s post because I’m dishing you up all the dog friendly dining and my favorite places to stay that are pup friendly while in Charleston. Grab your furry friend and let’s go!

STAY:

  1. Belmond Charleston Place

This place is dripping in gorgeous Southern Charm and is located right amidst the excitement of King St. in Historic Charleston. Great walking distance to most everything including the gorgeous homes off e battery. We stayed here for our first time and thoroughly enjoyed the service, decor, and how friendly the staff was. A huge plus was how pet friendly they are. We saw at least 6 or 7 other dogs while staying there too, so if you’re worried about bringing your baby, don’t. It’s totally the norm here and the staff will give your pup lots of extra TLC from the moment you arrive. They will charge you a non-refundable pet fee of $150 for the length of your stay. It’s not too bad if you are staying 2 or more nights, as our dog boarding place would cost just that after just 2 nights. One other negative- we didn’t think their beds were very comfortable. For as nice as everything else was here, they could surely update their beds. Otherwise this place is top notch and we will most likely be back!

    2. The Grand Bohemian Autograph Collection Hotel

Let’s just call it how it is. This chain of hotels will always have a sweet spot in my heart as we got married at one of their sister properties in Savannah, Georgia. We love how modern, whimsical and high fashion-esque the design and ambiance always is here. Although we haven’t stayed at this particular hotel with Archie yet, we have stayed at others within the collection with my little Lily dog in the past and they were great. Their fee is also $150 for one pet for length of stay.

    3. Hotel Bennett

So this is one of the newer hotels in the area that we visited while there. The design is that of a very elegant art deco type style. They have a pink “Champagne Room” that has gorgeous and delicous craft cocktails and options on options of bubbles plus delectable designer plated appetizers! We had the ahi tuna and it was amazing! The chandelier here is something else (insert heart eyes). I will say though that their pet fee is a bit higher at $200 for the stay, which is what made us choose the Belmond over Hotel Bennett this trip. The added benefit of this hotel is its right across from a big open park you can take your dog out to, as the others are lacking super close by grassy space (which can be a little important if you catch my drift).

DINE:

  1. Poogan’s Porch - Takes Reservations

Ask to sit on their upper deck back porch. It was so peaceful back here with only one other table seated behind us, and an amazing summer breeze, being elevated. They immediately brought Archie out some water in a dog bowl and didn’t even mind him sitting/lying down in the chair next to me. If you’re a dog person and owner of one, you probably are used to everyone wanting to come over and pet your dog. The staff here are no different (and in a good way), making you and your fur baby feel right at home. Make sure you order the fried chicken and mac and cheese here! So good!

Note- These others I have not personally been to yet, but they did come highly recommended and are dog friendly outside.

    2. 39 Rue De Jean - Takes Reservations

    3. Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar - Takes Reservations

    4. Eli’s Table - Takes Reservations

    5. Le Farfalle - Takes Reservations

    6. Henrietta’s - Takes Reservations

    7. Circe’s Grotto

    8. Brown Dog Deli

    9. Blind Tiger

    10. Café Framboise

    11. Caviar & Bananas

    12. Pearlz Oyster Bar

So clearly you can see, you’ve got plenty of dog friendly options here! Enjoy your family trip to Charleston and be sure to tag me in your pics if you take this trip! Love seeing all y’alls little fur babies too!
